Supporters and critics alike could agree that “lavish” and “extravagant” are two adjectives that describe President Donald Trump’s gilded lifestyle, which is interesting because those characteristics rarely coexist with the support of a nation’s working class. However, clever Mr. Trump has convinced millions of Americans to “trust him, he’s a successful businessman” who only wants the best for our nation, like the rest of us.
So, if he’s just like us, then that must mean that Mr. Trump sometimes spends his hard-earned money on things that are just plain overpriced and sometimes, a little nutty.
The difference is that while you may be ashamed of your As Seen on TV two-for-one Snuggie indulgence, Mr. Trump’s silly purchase decisions count on bigger budgets. Perhaps that is why the press has recently given him a new nickname: “The Marie Antoinette of America.”
Few people realize that Mr. Trump is an outlier even amongst his rich peers. Contrary to popular belief, studies and statistics demonstrate that most millionaires live frugal lives - they drive used cars and shop for bargains, indulging only in specific categories. That is not the case for the gilded U.S. President! His purchase decisions make it seem like his motto is: the shinier and bigger, the better.
