Ok, so what is really Ridge Racer Driftopia? I just installed it yesterday, but couldn't get any race to start, only got timeouts. Today they seemed to have fixed it and it worked just fine all the time up until the video ends, I was actually just about to stop the recording when the game crashed and gave me an "Fatal disk error" message :) It's still in the beta so things like this will probably happen every now and then until a patch is released.
It took me a few races before I even realized that smashing objects gives you energy on your boost meter. I would have much prefered to have a system where you can use it whenever you want, now it seems more like you really have to know every turn before you use it since you can't really shut it off.
As you can see of this gameplay I didn't quite get a hang of the drift part which is ofc essential. Can't really figure out if it's me going too fast making it less arcade than I thought I'd be (it's still super arcade though!) or if I'm doing something else wrong.
Just did this quick test and will have to try it out more to see what it's really about and what the average feeling is for it. But beeing a F2P title at least graphic wise it seems quite nice, however the cars you crash makes you spend repair wrenches and if you're all out your car is gone! You can, of course BUY new ones. But I just browsed through what you can purchase and it looks insanely expensive.
There are other F2P titles out there that has a strong P2W concept but just the first feel I got of this game is that it's pay to survive... I get the idea, I get that they want money but at this rate it's just insane imo.
