Award-winning chamber opera company OperaUpClose bring their inimitable style to the Minerva for the first time on Tuesday 11 February 2025.
Weaving together live performance, projection and recorded sound to create an intimate, visceral tale of family, grief and love’s enduring power, Riders to the Sea follows a family in an ancient fishing community haunted by the grief of losing nearly all of their male members at sea. As matriarch Maurya and her daughters try to carry on with their lives, remaining son Bartley finds himself drawn back home, setting off a chain of seemingly inevitable events.
A cast of opera singers and instrumentalists will have equal agency as storytellers, enabling intense and direct musical storytelling. Ages 12+
The show is captioned throughout as part of the production design. Tickets from £10
