US Elevator Corp Elevator, installed in 1983 in Tyson’s Corner VA. Filmed in 2018.
The elevators were being modernized, so I wanted to grab a video of the old system before it was gone. US was one of the first vendors to have a microprocessor controlled system, and I found it worked great as a passenger.
You can see how quickly the system responds when I hit the Lobby floor button. There are 3 cars in this building, and this one always took the longest to platform. The banging sound as the car gets to the lobby was always a bit concerning...
Annoyingly the system that replaced it is slower! The new lanterns also have an electronic chime in them, it was easier to figure out where the sound was coming from with the old mechanical bell. Oh well.
