I think that's not so. Rhythm, groove, feel are all learnable skills. Just like scales, theory, reading.
If your timing isn't solid, nothing else will "bail you out". Not the licks, not the theory, not the fretboard knowledge. None of it will hit.
Groove is the foundation. And you can build it. As a bass player, you need to cultivate good rhythm.
What are your thoughts on this?
