Andy never expected a hiking trail to become the place where he would rebuild his life. After leaving ministry, navigating faith deconstruction, raising children with complex mental health challenges, and transforming his own health, Andy began documenting his hikes across Oregon. What started as a personal outlet has grown into a platform reaching hundreds of thousands of people, using public lands, storytelling, and humor to advocate for mental health, environmental conservation, media literacy, and civic engagement.
In this conversation, Andy shares how spending time outdoors can heal more than just our bodies, why authentic storytelling changes minds better than arguments, and how creators can use social media to build connection instead of division.
