Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said Wednesday that Pennsylvania "is refusing to cooperate" with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the measles outbreak after the governor said two people died from the disease.
"We're trying to get information about those two casualties," Kennedy said. "According to a statement that was released by the Lancaster County Commissioner today, they cannot find any measles deaths in Lancaster County, and they complained that the governor will not give them that information. The CDC tried to get that information from the governor yesterday, and the state is refusing to cooperate."
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) called the two measles deaths "completely preventable" on Tuesday afternoon.
The measles outbreak is a "serious and ongoing problem," Shapiro said, adding that the outbreak has spread to 28 counties in the commonwealth.
