At the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey assumed the Skywalker name. As the film would reveal earlier on, Rey was actually the granddaughter of Sheev Palpatine. However, refusing to take the sinister name that she had never associated with, Rey chose to become a Skywalker after being encouraged to do so by her mentors, Luke and Leia. In this video, I break down the differences between the Skywalker and Palpatine legacies and explain why one is so much better for Rey than the other, despite the dark histories behind both names.
