recently i got a comment asking if i could do a remake of rewind. i had been wanting to do a remake of it for a while actually, so i decided to take it on.

rewind was actually fairly innovative for me back then, i hadnt really done anything like it at the time. and as a bit of a side effect of that it was a pretty mixed bag in terms of overall music quality.

some parts still go hard 10 months later, and other parts are just Objectively bad ((Especially the later sections))

this really just added to my thought of doing a remake of rewind, but the problem was i didnt really know What i would do for it. it was just,,,,, Too different for me to really get a grasp of, even though it was literally something I made.

so i held off on it, and instead made a bunch of New songs using the same instruments along with those drumkits.

and id say i pulled it off.

i not only wanted to remake the original song, but i also wanted to Extend it. so i decided to combine those Other songs i made with rewind into one Big song,,

Sorta.

I guess i should probably explain the lore on Why cassettes would even be in minecraft. i said this in the original rewind's description, but these cassettes would be found in the ancient cities, which is pretty much The Most advanced structure in the game. it uses redstone lamps for lighting, and has an redstone room. not to mention the giant portal in the center of the already massive city.

one of my favorite general theories for minecraft was that the time period the player plays in is after some sort of huge disaster that wiped out previous civilizations ((hence all the undead mobs)) and in reality those previous civilizations were actually pretty advanced. i just always thought that was a cool theory, So i thought it would also be cool to give the most advanced and ancient structure in the game something more advanced than just a music disc, a cassette tape.

if youre wondering how i think you would actually Play the cassette in game, the easy way out would just be that jukeboxes can Also play the cassettes, but i think it would be cooler if they got their own designated cassette players.

i guess this is kinda going into the realm of mods, but to try and keep it fairly vanilla i imagine they would be crafted with 8 smooth stone blocks around a redstone block or redstone comparator. it could also look somewhat similar to the jukebox, but made of smooth stone instead of wood.

now to answer another thing: if youve watched the entire video by now ((thank you by the way)) or have just seen the thumbnail, then youve noticed that theres actually Other cassettes thrown in for different sections, but its still just called rewind.

this goes into another idea i had for the cassette players that i think should honestly just be in vanilla with jukeboxes and discs, and thats having a sort of playlist where you insert however many cassettes / discs into the jukebox / cassette player, and it just plays them.

i always found it kinda annoying that whenever a song ends you have to Manually change it yourself, you can even change it with redstone or anything as far as i know.

so, addressing the multiple cassette thing, each cassette would be either be labeled with unique names or just be labeled rewind part 1 - 4, and youd basically just collect All of them to hear the full song, similar to the disc fragments for disc 5. maybe that doesnt make sense but neither do the disc fragments so its probably fine 👍👍

that was a Very long description, i know, im pretty sure its the longest one ive typed for one of my songs. ive almost reached the character limit. but thats just what happens when you try to put a cassette into minecraft.
