Automated mobile robots that move in a swarm at up to 10 meters per second and place parcels precisely in the specified locations – this is not science fiction, these are the LoadRunners! Together with Fraunhofer IML, we want to bring these small vehicles to market! In the last weeks we have tested them under almost real conditions with DPD Germany for their practical suitability.
The LoadRunners are not only incredibly fast and agile, they also set new standards in the use of artificial intelligence.
The test focused on the last sortation step during which parcels are sorted into the different local delivery tours. For the LoadRunner test, four specific DPD tours where selected. Parcels for these were separated and scanned at the LoadRunner test area. The scan triggered the assignment of a LoadRunner vehicle to come pick up the parcel and bring it to its destination at the other end of the hall.
