In Palau, giant clams are woven into daily life and culture. But as demand has grown and climate change has accelerated, wild populations have declined.
Conservation International is working with local partners to help rebuild populations of these iconic clams — raising and protecting young clams in local hatcheries while supporting the food systems, reefs, and livelihoods they sustain.
By bringing together science, local knowledge, and partnerships, this work is helping build a more sustainable giant clam industry that benefits people, reefs, and the blue economy.
