If mankind went extinct, could we be revived? It’s not out of the question. If another intelligent species evolved over millions of years, there’s a chance they could recover enough genetic material to resurrect us, much like how humans have begun to experiment with de-extinction of wooly mammoths. They could learn much about us biologically. But in 5 million years, all remnants of our cities will be destroyed by nature, and evidence of our culture will be lost — except in the case of the Voyager golden record, floating safely through empty space, trillions of miles away by then.
