26 years ago, four actors carried the weight of playing comedy legends. Now, they're finally telling us what it took.
In 2000, ABC aired a made-for-TV film that few expected to become the definitive portrait of Moe, Larry, Curly, and Shemp. Inspired by Michael Fleming's book The Three Stooges: An Illustrated History — and brought to life through Mel Gibson's Icon Productions — the film cast four actors with the impossible job of honoring men who were already legends.
A quarter-century later, we sat down with the cast to hear the real story behind the story: Michael Chiklis, Paul Ben-Victor, Evan Handler, John Kassir, Laurence Coy, and Peter Callan open up about auditions, wig malfunctions, real bruises from real bits, and the emotional weight of recreating Curly's decline, and Shemp's death on screen.
