An album largely lost to history, 1984's 'Difford & Tilbrook' was an attempt by Squeeze's two songwriters to relaunch themselves as the UK's answer to Hall & Oates in the wake of the premature break-up of their band in 1982. Featuring a mixture of pop soul, overly frilly orchestrations by Tony Visconti, and a few genuinely top tunes, it was a commercial blind alley - but still a record that became one of my life-long musical loves.
Join me as I tell the story of this curio from two of England's most top-drawer pop songwriters and performers, in the wilderness years before the inevitable reformation of Squeeze in 1985. The saga continues...
