Released at the end of 1964, 'Beatles for Sale' saw the now world famous Liverpudlians scrambling to make a new record, writing as many songs as they possibly could but also falling back on a number of cover versions from their pre-fame days. The result was a curious mismatch of the innovative and the utterly safe, yet the album's delights should not be overlooked.
