Positioning Tips (How to get great sound out of these speakers)

- The Australes are big speakers that sound best when you give them room to breathe. Recommendation: At minimum, you will want to make sure that the speakers are 2ft (69cm) away from the nearest wall boundaries. The distance from the rear-wall is more critical, as it will have a greater impact on imaging and bass performance.

- You will need to put some distance between yourself and the Australes in order to enjoy the most seamless driver integration. Recommend a distance of 5ft (152cm) between your listening position and the physical location of the loudspeakers.

- If you want to enjoy imaging that strikes a good balance between spaciousness and focus,, apply a minimal amount of toe-in. Experiment to taste.

- There are no special requirements when it comes to how far apart the speakers should be spaced out from one another. Go with the spot that sounds best.

Equipment Matching Guidelines!

- The Australes tend to sound best with components that are neutral or rolled off and warm sounding. Good examples being: Marantz PM8006, Denafrips Hestia and Hyperion, Luxman SQN-150, Parasound JC5 and JC2BP.

- The Australes tend to not sound so great with components that are bright / energetic / or unrefined sounding. Can be too much of a good thing, resulting in an aggressive, fatiguing sound.

- The Australes should be paired with components that retail for $1000 or higher. These are high resolution speakers and will reveal how rough and unrefined most sub $1000 components sound. Yes, this includes the IOTAVX stack.

- The Australes make for a natural match with tube amplifiers. Even 10wpc tube amps will have no trouble driving these speakers, particularly for people who live in modest sized listening spaces. Be mindful that many low-power tube amps will not be able to produce gobs of bass with the Australe.

- The Australes are highly efficient speakers and do not require a lot of power in order to play at decent volumes. 10-15 watts is fine for people who listen at low volumes and are in modest sized living spaces. 30-60 watts should be good enough for most people in an average sized rooms, whereas 100 watts or more are recommended for people who listen at loud volumes and/or value big dynamic swings.

- While these speakers are efficient, the bass responds well to solid state muscle. High power amps with high damping factor can really bring out the low-end rumble.
