Tips on how to dial in your SB3000 Subwoofer! Thanks, Nick!
* For connection to an AV processor, the phase control should be set to 0 degrees. This is because the AV processor will time-align the subwoofer with the other loudspeaker channels in the system.
* For a 2-channel system which lacks time alignment, the phase control should be left at 0 degrees if the subwoofer is placed on the same wall as the loudspeakers.
*For a 2-channel system where the subwoofer is placed on a different wall than the loudspeakers, it’s possible this could put the subwoofer out of phase with the loudspeakers, resulting in phase cancellation and reduced bass performance. In cases like this, the phase control can be adjusted to improve the phasing and reduce phase cancellation between the loudspeakers and the subwoofer over the bandwidth where they are sharing output.
* While this can be done by ear, it can also be done with empirical data using a measurement system like REW (freeware) and a UMIK-1 microphone (about $75).
