📚 BattleTech Book Review – Blaine Lee Pardoe's Northwind Highlanders Duology
Welcome back, MechWarriors! In this video, we take a deep dive into two classic BattleTech novels by the legendary Blaine Lee Pardoe:

Pardoe, a fan-favorite author and key contributor to Clan lore, was sadly removed from the BattleTech universe due to political issues. But today, we set all that aside and focus purely on the stories – and their place in the BattleTech timeline.
🛡️ Highlander Gambit
Set in the aftermath of the Fourth Succession War, this novel follows Major Loren Jaffray, a Death Commando of Highlander descent, sent by Chancellor Sun-Tzu Liao to infiltrate and ultimately destroy the legendary Northwind Highlanders.
But things don't go as planned – what begins as a cold political mission soon turns into a personal crisis, as Jaffray is embraced by the Highlanders as one of their own.
With rogue elements within the Federated Suns and loyalties in question, Jaffray finds himself caught between duty, honor, and survival.
⚔️ Impetus of War
Now XO of Stirling’s Fusiliers, Jaffray leads a Highlander battalion on a contract from the Draconis Combine to retake Wayside V from Clan Smoke Jaguar.
It’s supposed to be a morale-boosting skirmish. In reality? The elite Tau Galaxy of the Jaguars is using the world as a staging ground for an offensive against Clan Nova Cat.
Trickery, bluffing, and tactical genius are Jaffray’s only hope to outmaneuver the Clanners – and even that might not be enough.
