Hey guys, here's a review of the SLD Trail Winder asymmetrical UQ/ insulated UnderQuilt Protector : simplylightdesigns.com/collections/hammock-accessories/products/trail-winder-asym-uq . Mine is made out of Dutchwaregear Argon 90 and has asymmetric Climashield Apex 3.6 for a standalone 40° temp rating. As you'll see, the insulation is only sewn in on the part that's directly under you , just like a Warbonnet Wookie. Because of this it can be used on its own as a super lightweight , highly wind and water resistant UnderQuilt or can be stacked on top of another quilt to boost its temp rating and/or act as a traditional UnderQuilt Protector. It can also be made of Dutchwaregear ION fabric, comes in 9' - 12' lengths and Climashield Apex 2.0 to 10.0 for temp ratings from 50° down to 0° , making this UQ/UQP highly customizable. It also comes with a stuff sack and can be compressed quite a bit. SLD also makes a non -insulated version of the Trial Winder as well. Overall this is one neat piece of gear that will get used year round : on its own in the summer when it's super humid and I only need a thin UQ to take the early morning chill off, spring and fall as extra protection from blowing rain and cold wind and in winter when it's wet to supplement my synthetic & down UQ's helping to keep them dry and boost their temp rating. The benefits of having insulation only where's its needed will also lighten my pack load this summer. So overall this is a very versatile quilt and the cost is less than a cottage made ,traditional UQ but a little more than a traditional style UQP from 2QZQ. I can't wait to use this both outside and inside at home, in the woods and on the trail. Let me know if you have any questions!
