the Vixia R600 was recently released...from my understanding the R400, R500, R600 are all pretty much the same...
Yes this camera is the older model. So look for the Canon Vixia HF R500 now...I am very impressed with the quality this video camera has brought to my videos. Not only can you do HD 1080p at 60FPS you can get quality optical zoom up to 32x with this camera...even with its small sensor it performs superbly in low light...not as good as a dslr, but hey its also not $500-600...while on the other hand it does provide snappy auto focus to make it simple for the user! I give this a 10/10 in regards to the cost (about $200 if you get it on sale) and quality for what you pay.
I have used this camcorder for over a year now and It has taken me leaps and bounds in my video making...I started out using a gopro 3 with my iphone and slowly have worked towards improving my videography over time...learning and using new tools...I now am working with a canon T5i dslr in hopes of bringing even better quality to my videos.
