A Dead Man In Deptford by Anthony Burgess is a story of the events that may have led up to the killing of playwright Christopher Marlowe in the town of Deptford in 1593. It is not just the study of one (in)famous Elizabethan artist's character, but of that of the politics of his time and indeed the age of confessionalisation as a whole. It's also just damn good fun.
