Escape Rooms are synonymous with padlocks; the satisfying mechanical "clunk" as the shackle releases in your hand both confirms that you solved a puzzle correctly, and also grants access to your reward!
But they have become so widely-used that players have become somewhat saturated and bored by them; with many players now actively seeking out experiences that use more advanced alternatives to reveal content with more theatrical effect.
In this video, I'll demonstrate some lock, release, and reveal mechanisms - Electromagnetic locks, solenoid catches, linear actuators, and pneumatic cylinders - each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
