Return to Yoshi's Island 64 (DEMO) - HOLP Preservation using Invisibility debugging mode (IDM)
Invisibility debugging mode or IDM is one of four debugging features kaze forgot to delete when releasing the demo. Pressing left on the Dpad causes mario and the HUD to become invisible. While that might seem useless at first, it can be exploited because when mario is invisible the object he's holding will become invisible as well which causes the HOLP to stop updating itself.
This could be useful for Sunken 8 bit pipe, but I don't know for sure. Strange that I haven't thought of this before though...
