I'm still at it, showcasing underrated/overlooked games for the PS2. This is a video of the underrated port of Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection for the PS2.
While Return to Castle Wolfenstein is hardly an overlooked game amongst the general gaming public, the PS2 port is definitely overlooked amidst the PS2 library, and in general.
The lack of any multiplayer seems to be a downer at first as with the PC version, and even the Xbox version, multiplayer is/was available for this game, however, the PS2 version makes up for it with some thoughtful additions in the single player mode.
The Xbox port had two-player coop, which was a great addition for that port, but the PS2 version ads 7 new levels from the PC original, and the ability to buy extra stats based on points the player earns for finding hidden and secret areas in the game. This gives players the incentive to fully explore the levels, adding almost an RPG leveling system into the mix. This is a really cool addition to the single player.
The rest of the game, running on the, even for the time, old Quake III engine, runs smoothly, and plays great. Fast, fun gameplay, tough A.I., and a lengthy single player campaign makes this a worthy shooter to add to your PS2 FPS collection, and, with the added RPG elements, might even be worthy for owners of the PC and Xbox versions to look into. If you're looking for coop, or more multiplayer options, then look into the other versions, however, if you are satisfied with single player campaigns, look into Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection
