For a long time now, Addy and I have been saying we should do some kind of competitive rechart thing--same song, same audio, same tempomap, but we don't show each other what we're charting, and see just how wildly it differs at the end.
In the end, we chose Retribution by Black Label Society, the infamous final PowerGig tune, since it was slated for the Volume 1 setlist. I didn't watch his chart until I put the two together in-game. I was not expecting such a gigantic difference in what we did, especially since I assumed we were both very Harmonix-like charters to begin with. This is a BLAST to watch.
Aside from my slowness, this was a lot of fun, and it's increased my confidence in charting solo-heavy songs immensely.
If you wanna play Addy's chart, he's already posted it as a RB3 custom over on his channel. Full band, all difficulties, plus keys! youtube.com/watch?v=LNkunbK93ow
Thanks for doing this with me, Addy, was a lot of fun to work on and also to see come together. And you, viewers--let me know whose chart you prefer.
And if you want to play (a tweaked improved version of) my chart, it made it onto marfGH: Volume 1 after all, so grab that from my site: mariteaux.somnolescent.net/modding/guitar-hero/discs
