Hello friends! In this video I will show you how Retouch4me retouching plugins handle event photography. Surely every photographer at least once in his life shot an event: it could be a corporate party at work, kids graduation, grandmother's birthday, some event in the city life or a wedding banquet. All these types of shootings are united by a large number of people in the pictures, difficult lighting conditions and the lack of professional makeup on the models. I think you can already guess where all this conditions lead. Usually the processing of event images includes light and color correction. No one retouches such photos, unless you retouch the bride and groom at wedding. As a result: the newlyweds will be happy with the pictures, but the guests will not. So why not use automatic retouching and retouch all of these photos?
I have several event shots. These are photographs from various events. For the convenience of the demonstration, I'm going to make an action that will apply plugins sequentially on different layers.
I'm going to action panel, selecting Retouch4me folder and starting the record. I create a copy of the layer, name it Heal and apply Retouch4me Heal plugin to it. Since I have a lot of people on the photos, I will use all the plugins in high resolution mode. This setting will also be written into the action. I click Apply. I create a copy of the Heal layer, name it Dodge and Burn and run Retouch4me Dodge&Burn plug-in. I'll also tick on High Resolution checkbox here. Ok, done! I copy the layer again, name it Portrait Volumes and run Retouch4me Portrait Volumes plugin. The last layer I will name Skin Tone and run the plugin. Ok, at this point the recording of the action can be stopped!
Let's check the results before I run my action on other photos. Let's see at 100% scale. This is how Retouch4me Heal plugin works. It removes minor imperfections from the skin. I don't think anyone does that at all on such photos. Next comes Retouch4me Dodge & Burn, it removes dark spots and softens shadows on the face. The next plugin increase visual volume of the photo. That effect is not limited to faces only, the volume increases of all entire body. And the last plugin evens out skin color. Here is a photo before. The purple tint is clearly visible here. Here is one after. Skin color has evened out. Note that I haven’t done any manual settings here, it all works automatically.
Let's see how the plugins work on other photos. When the action is running, the plugins will be applied sequentially, and the plugins’ windows will not appear on the screen. This means that the computer doesn’t render the preview of the photos, so it saves a lot of time. If you want to process photos with several plugins in sequence, like I do, it is better to do it with one action. It is not necessary to create several layers; I do this for the convenience of demonstrating the results.
I will run the action on the rest of the photos and in order not to waste your time, I will go straight to the results. Here is a photo before and here is the result. Let's take a closer look. Before / after, before / after. Nobody does retouching on event photographs, so if you give such retouched shots, your clients will certainly contact you again.
There are teenagers in the photo. Here is a photo before, and this is the result after processing with 4 plugins. Before / after,
And the last photo. There are a lot of people here. Users often ask how plugins work in group shots. They work great, just use High Resolution mode. Heal removed minor imperfections from the skin. Retouch4me Dodge & Burn plugin brightened dark spots. Retouch4me Portrait Volumes plugin increased visual volume. Pay attention to the leg. And Retouch4me Skin Tone plugin evened out skin tone. Pay attention to the man with the vape. Magenta skin tones have become warmer. Skin color is equalized. That is, even on such a photo with a large number of people, plugins still work!
I want you to write in the comments how much time would you spend on such retouching of this first photo. Please note that all faces have been retouched. All this retouching was done automatically. So why don't you do something else while the plugins do what you don't want to do, or can't, or are just lazy? Keep in mind that plugins do it faster and cheaper than any retoucher.
I hope this video was useful. Like and subscribe to stay tuned! Bye everyone!
Thanks to Valery Tenevoy for the photos.
