I picked up this old desk and these rush chairs from a barn sale and today I am cleaning them up and putting some life back into them. I'm restoring the old desk with mineral oil as well as the wood on the chairs. The fiber rush weave seat is being treated with a paintable shellac.
I like my furniture to not look perfect or brand new so I only applied one coat of oil to take away the initial dryness of the wood. If you were looking to restore your pieces to new then sand down every imperfection and put many coats of oil on the wood. Sand between oil coats and you'll start to see it become shiny and new!
