We found this old petrol-powered water pump abandoned in the forest next to a stream, where it had once supplied water to a gold sluice. It had been sitting upside down for years, completely locked up and full of water and corrosion. I brought it home, stripped it down to the last nut and bolt, cleaned and restored every part, honed the bore, lapped the valves, and replaced a few damaged components.
In this detailed video, I show the complete teardown and rebuild process step-by-step. If you're working on a small engine — whether it’s from a pump, generator, or motorcycle — this video might help. After the rebuild, it started first pull and now shoots water 40 feet high through a 2" nozzle! I plan to use it as a firefighting pump on my remote forest property.
This restoration shows how even a seemingly seized engine can be brought back to life with a bit of time, effort, and know-how.
If you enjoy mechanical restoration, DIY repairs, or just a good before-and-after story, this video is for you! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more restoration projects.
