Beginning months before June 9th, 1944, Allied forces conducted extensive amphibious training along the coasts of Great Britain. The immense armada, comprising slow LSTs carrying heavy equipment and thousands of transport vessels, was meticulously coordinated to approach the heavily defended Normandy beachheads.
