In the 1930s, the artist Abram Champanier painted Alice of Wonderland Visiting New York, a series of murals that displayed Alice in Wonderland characters throughout the city. The piece was commissioned by the Works Progress Administration, and the panels were displayed in the children’s ward at the Gouverneur Hospital between 1938 and 1940. Now at the Museum of the City of New York, the mural panels are on view together for the first time in almost 50 years.
