In this video, I discuss rest and recreation for Black women as a necessary practice rooted in wellness, sustainability, and self-respect, not guilt or overwork. I reflect on personal experiences with rest, including travel, family, and learning how to take the cape off in daily life. This conversation explores the Black Women Rest Era, the impact of chronic stress, and why rest and recreation are essential for mental health, physical health, and emotional balance. I also connect rest to Black History Month by affirming the deep history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans and honoring the legacy of our ancestors. This video is an invitation to prioritize rest, reclaim humanity, and recognize wellness as part of our collective history and future.
