Hey guys!
I will have a video out later this week discussing tempering first impressions, but I wanted to get a video out as to WHY a system like tempering exists in the first place. The game needs resource sinks of lower level resources to keep an economy going.
Tempering does two things:
1. Assign value to lower level resources(copper, western larch, granite)
2. Clear out unwanted gear from the trade economy
This prevents bloat and oversaturation of gear in the trade market, and it ALSO allows lower level resources to still be valuable in the economy. It very well may need to be tweaked, but the goal of the system is quite a bit different than enchanting, which is purely a gold sink.
