bap8guy | Resist-o-Stat model RDS43B - Decade Resistor unit 3 @bap8guy | Uploaded June 2017 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
General Resistance has been well known for making excellent decade resistance packages for many years. The RDS series has two models, the B series which have .025% tolerance and the A series which have .01%. This B series unit was opened and found to contain 40, .01% tolerance resistors, which would seem to indicate a it should be an A series unit. Even at surplus costs these resistors alone would run $200 to $800. These devices are used in calibration of equipment, in simulation of things like RTDs and strain guages, or in combination with precision voltage sources to provide reference voltages and currents. In this video I also measure resistance and generate a performance spreadsheet utilizing a (somewhat) freshly calibrated Fluke 8810 meter. The results show that 33 of the 40 decade points tested are within .015% with 100% of the readings within .025%.
