Preparing Repair Area for Double Bag Vacuum Infusion
Peel Ply is applied after the fiberglass is laid up. Apply adhesive to the combi mesh, resin brake bag, blade runner and affix in place. The resin brake bag and blade runner should be on opposite sides to direct the resin flow across the part. Prepare the bagging film with sealant tape and apply bag to inner area leaving room for the second bag.
Create pleats around the vacuum tubing to minimize possible leaks. Make sure you are symmetrical with your pleats – when you create a pleat on one side of the work area, create a matching pleat on the other side in the same location.
Once you finish pleating and attaching the bag, squeeze the taped sides together to create a good seal to help prevent leaks.
Apply the vacuum. Once all leaks are detected and fixed, apply spiral tubing wrapped in breather cloth around the parameter of the 1st bag before applying the 2nd vacuum bag. Once the tape is worked around the parameter, pull the vacuum on the second bag.
As the vacuum is pulling, work the bag around the resin feed tube and other areas. This results in a fully prepared repair area, ready for the introduction of resin.
