The chief of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation, also known as Collins, Ontario, recently brought members back to the community to see what was left after it was destroyed by wildfires.

APTN News received a response from Indigenous Services Canada after this story went to air.

It says, in part:

"Work is underway with the community, Anishinabek Nation and federal and provincial partners to assess these needs, and coordinate supports for community members during this challenging time. Minister Gull-Masty has met with Chief Paavola and Grand Council Chief Debassige on this matter, and we are closely monitoring the situation and working with partners to make sure that affected First Nations communities receive the supports they need."
