This sweetheart was overcome with fear after being hit by a car. His lower canine tooth was dislodged and bled profusely and he couldn't stand. Although he had no broken bones, it took several days before he had the strength to stand on his own.

His most aching pain, however, was his broken tooth, and the day after he was admitted we popped him in and out of surgery to extract it. This little guy--we named him Rana--was so emotional that he wouldn't eat until he was cuddled and reassured.

Rana was neutered as soon as he was strong enough, and now he's as good as new. If courage is measured by overcoming fear, Rana proved to be a very brave little boy.

$This dog seemed dead in the ditch but then she cried… Laying almost unconscious in a ditch, this dog must have been hit by a car. The person who called us to the rescue might have seen it happen, because otherwise this dog would have lay there and died, invisible to passers-by. She was completely quiet as we lifted her gently and carried her to our ambulance. Our night staff stabilized her with a drip and gave pain medicine, waiting for her thorough physical examination in the morning. We found no fractures or apparent wounds, but her eye was swollen and she behaved like one who had a brain injury, so we knew she needed supportive hydration with an IV, and most importantly, pain medicine and plenty of rest. When we presented her with food that first day, she couldnt eat. But by day 2 under the soothing hands of our staff, she was coaxed into eating on her own. $A head injury brought this baby to deaths door. But wait! Shes tiny but tough! When we came to rescue this little girl, we werent sure if she was still alive. But as we came closer we saw that she was breathing, though nearly unresponsive. She moved a little when we picked her up but wouldn’t open her eyes. We gently carried her into our ambulance, placed her in a little basket and brought her to Animal Aid. We found no fractures or external sign of injury but suspected she had suffered an injury to her head. We treated her for pain, stabilized her with IV fluids and kept her warm and safe. By day 2 she was beginning to move a bit but remained completely disoriented and stuporous. However, by Day 3, this little beauty dove into her food bowl and completely remembered how to eat.
