"...I can't do it alone..."

While not as good as I was hoping it would be, I really enjoyed Bourne Legacy. I have never seen any of the other Bourne movies, I just don't care for Matt Damon and have never found his movies interesting (not that I've tried to watch many, he just not appealing to me). I might sit down and watch them if sister watches them, but, we'll see.
This vid isn't great, but, I have feelings I need to vid.
I'll start off with what I didn't like about the movie: While the bike-chase was very well done, it was way, way too long. And there was no final show-down between Aaron and Terminator (is know he's LARX-3, but, he will always be Terminator to me) they have a big long chase sequence and then Marta kicks Terminator off his bike and he dies. No show-down, no climatic battle, just a crash and he dies. Then the movie just sorta ends. It was way too abrupt. If they cut ten minutes from the bike scene, added in a five minute fight then and another five minute set-up to the end, it would have worked, but alas. Plus the plot was good, but I wanted more conspiracy.
What I did like however was the pacing, it set up the characters and plot (convoluted as it was) well but at expense of the action. I didn't mind. But I know a lot of other people did (including my sister). The pacing worked up until the end but I already mentioned that.
What I also really liked was Aaron and Marta's relationship (thus this video :D), it was subtle and believable, which greatly surprised and pleased me since most romances in action films tend to fall flat, combined with terribly-timed make-out sessions. In Legacy, they slowly built up the trust between the two people forced together through dire circumstances forming a bond that wasn't overtly romantic but had enough hints (and some lovely hand-holding) to make it believable when she chooses to stay with him when he's sick. No ill-timed make-outs, although a kiss at the end would have been welcome and by that time, they were safe. Plus, Jeremy and Rachel actually have chemistry.
The acting was TOP-NOTCH!
Jeremy Renner was excellent and brought depth to his character despite limited background. My only gripe is I wish they explored his past "12 IQ points below the army required" self a little more, it made his hunt for chems understandable and made you feel for him but was breezed over to fast. I also had very few Hawkeye thoughts whilst watching Legacy, except for "the nest" comment of course, I thought of Jeremy as Aaron only. Annnnnd excuse me while I fangirl for a moment but those stunts were flawless and the shirtless scenes most certainly didn't hurt.
Rachel Weisz surprised me a lot, she's a great actress (I adored her in the Mummy movies) but I wasn't expecting much from her "typical damsel in distress in an action movie". I was completely wrong. While Marta was physically outmatched by everyone and out of her depth, she kept her wits about her and made rational decisions and above all was NOT useless. Plus she took out the Terminator. She's awesome.
Nothing is worse then a villain who truly believes he is doing the right thing, Ed Norton was great as the villain and smart. Actually all the characters were smart, and that is something you don't see every day.
I enjoyed the movie and I wouldn't mind seeing it again :) If you haven't seen it but are thinking about it, keep an open mind and I think you'll enjoy yourself.
