It's primary election day. Votes made today for the state's governor's race decide who's on your ballot in November, and Your Florida has been hanging off the edge of our seats waiting for the results, and now we've got them.
Republican Byron Donalds took the race against several opponents, including some pretty controversial candidates. President Trump endorsed him, and he won. He was elected to the Florida House in 2016 and to the U.S. House in 2020.
Donalds supports parental rights and school choice, and has received high marks from conservative organizations for his voting record.
Democrat David Jolly won tonight's race. He's a former member of Congress and a former Republican. He spent seven years as an independent, and is now one of the top voices in the Florida Democratic Party.
Jolly says the economy should work for everyone, believes in responsible investments in housing and healthcare, and thinks everybody's rights should be protected.
There's also six no party affiliation candidates and one Libertarian heading to the general election.
