Many will say DIY can't do this. I say you can DO IT! Replacing the frame is much different than replacing the door with a new pre-hung french door. At around $700 for a new door vs less than $150 to repair and replace with PVC. Wood is not an option. Basic woodworking techniques is all that is required to completely rebuild this door to a long lasting, never to rot again project. Also learn to make simple scrap wood jigs to cut the mortises for the hinges.
