In This video I explain how you can fix some bad looking carbon fiber parts by using some Epoxy Coating Resin From Easy Composites (note: new name is XCR Epoxy coating resin and should give even better results!)
How To Fix?!
The first step is to remove alle the imperfections like airbubbles and voides on the surface of the part. I do this with a 100grid sanding paper. If you don't feel advanced enough you can start with a higher grid and if it's not moving fast enough you can lower the grid again to work faster. The most important thing is TO NOT SAND THROUGH the carbonfiber! You need to aim to sand through the highspots and get as close as possible to the low spots without sanding through the fibers!
After every time you sand you can add more resin. This will fill the low spots time after time till you will get a perfect surface. Once you reach that perfect surface you can go for the clearcoating or polishing! If you go for the clearcoat you sand till 800grid and use some 1K clear out of a spraycan if the part wont be used in harsh conditions. An other way is to use some polishing compound by sanding till 2000 and use some polishing compound!
