Rendez-vous is a musical invitation from cellist Camille Thomas and pianist Julien Brocal, offering listeners a unique and intimate experience. Recorded at and produced by Tippet Rise Art Center in Fishtail, Montana, the project reimagines iconic classical works by pairing them with new compositions by the artists that draw on different influences and eras.

In “With Surprises,” where French tradition meets unexpected pop inspirations, Thomas and Brocal chose to start with Satie’s Gnossienne No. 3, originally written for solo piano and which Thomas arranged for cello and piano. From this piece sprang Reflection No. 5 (With Surprises), which draws on the harmonies and spirit of a song that marked Thomas’s adolescence: No Surprises by Radiohead. This reflection weaves a dialogue between three voices: the hypnotism of Satie, the melodic universe of Radiohead, and that of Thomas and Brocal.

Films were captured in front of Alexander Liberman's 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘐𝘐, a monumental red arch with a vibrant energy that matches that of the musical pairing.
