Rendez-vous is a musical invitation from cellist Camille Thomas and pianist Julien Brocal, offering listeners a unique and intimate experience. Recorded at and produced by Tippet Rise Art Center in Fishtail, Montana, the project reimagines iconic classical works by pairing them with new compositions by the artists that draw on different influences and eras.

Thomas and Brocal sought to explore the interplay of mirrors and inner echoes through Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt. The piano acts like an immutable clock, an image of infinite time with three ascending notes while a fragile melody rises, almost a whisper, reflecting like paired mirrors. As an echo, Brocal composed Reflection No. 3 (Weightless): three piano notes, this time descending to support a suspended cello voice.

Films were captured in front of Mark di Suvero's Beethoven's Quartet, an artwork inspired by the composer’s seminal work, and which visitors to the art center enjoy striking with rubber mallets, like a steel drum.
