This tutorial shows you how you can create a project in Sony Vegas, then use AVISynth scripts to modify the video in that project, and then use a second instance of Vegas to render the video that results from your AVISynth script.
The advantage of the approach shown here is that you can do all your editing, color correction, and special effects in Vegas, but then perform additional processing using AVISynth, while still being able to take advantage of all the rendering options that Vegas provides.
