This small collection consists of motets published prior to 1530. In adapting these vocal works for lute, I have rendered them as literally as possible. Occasionally, however, for ease of fingering I have had to drop a note from an inner voice, especially when it is doubled at the octave in an outer voice. I have also repeated a couple of short pieces, adding a bit of connecting material in between.
