The Danzig Lute Book, published in Gdansk, Poland in 1621, contains forty-four Polish Dances (Balleti Polachi), which I have now presented in four videos of eleven pieces each. For this series, I am playing from Sarge Gerbode's wonderful edition of this manuscript. The present video offers Polish Dances thirty-four to fourty-four. ( Please note that the numbers of these dances refer simply to their order of appearance on Sarge's website [lutemusic.org], not to their order in the original manuscript.)

Those of you who listen to my recordings regularly know that I generally illustrate them with works of art. Since I have had trouble finding paintings of Polish dances, I have chosen to illustrate these four videos with paintings of the city of Gdansk (by the way, Danzig was the name of Gdansk when it belonged to Prussia or Germany).
