One of the core techniques of the Grimdark style is the reductive technique, which basically means we remove paint layers and uncover the ones beneath instead of simply adding layers on top of each other, creating physical depth and achieving effects that are more realistic.

You should still keep the basics of miniature painting in mind in the style, but a lot of approaches and techniques are really something else. You can check out this particular tutorial more on our YouTube channel!
