❌ Do not remove your accent! It's pointless! 💁♀️ And I will explain why you should not remove your accent, BUT you should rather accept your accent in French.
😉 Firstly, we all have an accent. Even the French. 🇫🇷 There are about a hundred departments in France. Most of these departments have more or less different accents.
🤔 Francophones have an accent! Why shouldn't you have one too? 🗣 You won't be understood if you have bad pronunciation, not an accent. Those are two different things. ✅ If you don't like the way you speak, I advise you to improve your pronunciation and not to change your accent.
💰 Secondly, an accent is a treasure. ⭐️ It's your origin, it's your identity, it's your story, it's who you are. 🌍 I find it very good that people ask where others are from! 💬 It already helps to start a conversation! 💃 And it highlights differences in this world that sadly tends towards homogeneity and standardization.
👍 Thirdly, your accent saves you if you make mistakes. 🤭 Imagine, you have no accent at all. People might think you are French. And then you make an embarrassing grammar or vocabulary mistake. 🤗 But, I must admit, if you make a mistake and people know you are foreign, it goes over better! People will be much nicer to you. 🙄 Whereas if you are French and make a mistake, people will judge you much more.
🤦♀️ And honestly, removing your accent is so much effort for little gain! 👉 Instead, focus your efforts on pronunciation, practice, grammar, vocabulary and being well understood.
