Remote ID Sept 20, 2023 Update Date Extension and Myths
In this video I will go over the extension of the FAA's Remote ID compliance date from Sept 16, 2023 to March 16, 2024, six months later. The Remote ID requirement is technically in place after Sept 16, 2023. Rather, the FAA will not take any enforcement actions until March 16, 2024.
The main reason for this date extension is the lack of remote ID modules for RC pilots and their aircraft. Remote ID modules are coming onto the market as of Sept 20, 2023. By March 2024 there should be more than enough of these components to ensure all drone pilots can comply with remote ID regulations.
I also cover some "myths" of remote ID to include the number of FAA Recognized Identification Areas, AMA insurance and remote ID and the FAA's rule making process.
