Before it became the Astro Orbiter we know today, we had Star Jets! This was the peak of the original "Space Age" look in Tomorrowland when it opened in 1974. Instead of weaving through planets, you were piloting your very own Saturn V-style rocket high above the Magic Kingdom.

The Big Change: The Star Jets officially closed on Jan. 10, 1994, to make way for the "New Tomorrowland" overhaul. When it flew back into action on April 30, 1994, it had been completely reimagined as the Astro Orbiter, swapping the classic white rockets for the retro-futuristic iron tower and rotating planetary rings we see today. Here is a 1992 view, I was able to record.

There’s something so special about that classic 90s Disney aesthetic. Who else misses the original rocket design? 👇
