Welcome to another installment of Day In The Life of a Hospital Chaplain, follow me as I reflect on the impact of Ash Wednesday at the hospital. All in all, it was a great day full of holy conversations with staff, patients, families, and visitors as I officiated over the Ash Wednesday Service and provided ashes to many persons whom I encountered.
Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return. Repent and believe the Gospel. (Ash Wednesday Blessing)
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the 40 day period known as Lent that prepares us for Easter. At Ash Wednesday, we remember our humanity and need for forgiveness brought about by our disobedience and sinfulness. As we mark our foreheads with ash, we repent and seek God's forgiveness and grace. God meets us where we are as we slow down and reflect on our need for God.
